Research in the Faroe Islands is arranged in similar ways as research in our neighbouring countries. Part of the research in the Faroes is conducted in the local university, Fróðakaparsetur Føroya, the university of the Faroe Islands, while a greater part is carried out in other governmental research institutions. Some private companies are also engaged in research. Lastly there are quite a number of Faroese researchers that are living abroad and foreigners that are engaged in research issues related to the Faroes. A number of these are young Ph.D. students enrolled in foreign universities.
