The Faroese PM visits the Western Isles

Today Jóannes Eidesgaard, Faroese PM, will meet with the convener of Shetland, Mr Sandy Cluness; Orkney, Mr Stephen Hagan and the Western Isles, Mr Alex MacDonald.
- As island communities our societies have a lot in common. Therefore it is beneficial for us to meet regularly for inspiration and to discuss issues of mutual interest, says Jóannes Eidesgaard, PM.

Today Jóannes Eidesgaard, Faroese PM, will meet with the convener of Shetland, Mr Sandy Cluness; Orkney, Mr Stephen Hagan and the Western Isles, Mr Alex MacDonald.
- As island communities our societies have a lot in common. Therefore it is beneficial for us to meet regularly for inspiration and to discuss issues of mutual interest, says Jóannes Eidesgaard, PM.
On his visit he will inform the conveners of Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles of the progress the Faroes have made in their relations to Denmark with the Foreign Policy Act and Transfer of competencies.
Amongst the issues that the PM and the conveners of Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles will discuss are telecom and a sustainable energy production from renewable sources.
Other areas of common interest are aquaculture, Oil exploration and production, infrastructure, management of fisheries resources and sports.
The first meeting of this kind between the Faroes, Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles was in the Faroes last summer.
