The Faroes in hydrogen co-operation with the North Atlantic Countries

The Faroes, Greenland and Iceland have taken steps to initiate co-operation in hydrogen utilisation. The co-operation named North Atlantic Hydrogen Association, NAHA for short, aims to advance hydrogen research, and thus improve the technological solutions in the use of hydrogen, especially in the North Atlantic countries. NAHA also aims to distribute information on hydrogen, its utilisation and breakthroughs within the area, as well as provide advice to governmental authorities and others.

The preparatory meeting for NAHA was held in Tórshavn in the autumn of 2005, and from 8 – 10 August there will be a kick-off workshop in Nuuk in Greenland, where NAHA officially will be founded.

Each of the founding countries will have a representative on the NAHA board, and Sigurð í Jákupsstovu, the Director of Natural Resources, is the Faroese representative to the board. Membership in NAHA is open to all interested parties.

The NAHA web page: http://www.newenergy.is/naha/ provides information about the co-operation, aims and arrangements.
