1 / 6

From April to July 2024 Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America will host a series of events that showcase the diversity of Faroese arts and culture. The celebration aims to display Faroese arts and culture at a diverse array of events including literature talks, lectures, film screenings, design and art exhibitions, gastronomic experiences, and a knitting workshop.

The events are organised in collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture , Scandinavia House and respective national institutions, including FarLit, Faroe Islands Music Export, the University of the Faroe Islands, the Faroese Film Institute, and a group of Faroese designers.

The Faroe Islands Culture Days will kick off April 9 with a concert by Eivør, recipient of the Nordic Council Music Prize 2021, with Eli Tausen á Lava as the opening act.

On April 13, Sirið Stenberg, Minister for Culture of the Faroe Islands, will officially open the art exhibition Fog Swept Cargo: Art from the Faroe Islands. The exhibition brings a striking diversity of the Faroe Islands’ contemporary visual art scene to New York with works by Hansina Iversen, Rannvá Kunoy, Tóroddur Poulsen, Hanni Bjartalíð, Randi Samsonsen, Alda Mohr Eyðunardóttir, Jóhan Martin Christiansen and Steinprent studios. The exhibition is curated by Kinna Poulsen.

This event follows the resounding success of 'the Faroese Culture Days in Paris: Un éclat de soleil' in 2022.
