In a letter to the Prime Minister and Minister of Fisheries of the Faroe Islands today, the European Commission has confirmed to undertake the required steps to withdraw its trade measures against the Faroe Islands. As a result, the arbitral proceedings initiated by the Faroe Islands against the EU under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the World Trade Organization will be deferred temporarily. They will be terminated immediately subsequent to the revocation of the EU trade measures.
