Russian Cabinet Minister on Official Visit to the Faroe Islands

Ilya Shestakov, Russia’s deputy Agriculture Minister and Director of the Federal Fishery Agency, arrived in the Faroe Islands for an official visit Monday afternoon. Accompanying the minister is his wife Regina G. Shestakov.

Høgni Hoydal, Faroese fishery minister, and his wife Hildur Hermansen will host Mr. and Mrs. Shestakov during the visit.

The delegation will travel to the scenic island of Mykines Monday afternoon to see the renowned puffin and gannet colonies.

On Tuesday morning, Mr. Shestakov will have separate meetings with Høgni Hoydal, fisheries minister, Poul Michelsen, foreign- and trade minister, and Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen. After the meetings, Mr. Hoydal and Mr. Shestakov will hold a joint press conference at Hotel Hafnia in Tórshavn.

On Wednesday, the delegation will tour a number of fish factories as well as aquaculture farms and processing plants around the Faroe Islands. Wednesday evening Mayor Torbjørn Jacobsen and local business leaders will host a dinner in the town of Runavík.

The Russian delegation will depart from Vágar Airport on Thursday morning.
