"The Faroe Islands should strengthen their relationship with Germany," says PM Johannesen, who today met with German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck.
During the meeting they discussed how cooperation between the two countries can be strengthened and how trade relations can be improved.
In various areas, the collaboration between the Faroe Islands and Germany operates under agreements established between the Faroe Islands and the European Union. During the meeting PM Johannesen highlighted ongoing efforts to establish a comprehensive cooperation framework between the Faroe Islands and the EU.

Robert Habeck also serves as Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate. During the meeting they also discussed initiatives in the field of climate and the need for a greener transition both in the Faroe Islands and in Germany.
Signed jersey for the vice-chancellor
The Prime Minister is currently in Berlin supporting the Faroese handball national team. He took the opportunity to give the Vice Chancellor a Faroese national team jersey, signed by Hákun West of Teigum and Elias Ellefsen á Skipagøtu, both of whom play at a high level in German handball.
