For the next eight weeks, Justice Minister Bjarni Kárason Petersen will be on paternity leave.
He is the first Faroese Minister to take parental leave.
”I hope that more dads will realize the value of actually using their rights to paternity leave in the future, regardless of whether they are ministers, carpenters, teachers or anything else”, says Minister Petersen.
PM takes ministerial duties
In addition to being Justice Minister, Bjarni Kárason Petersen is Minister responsible for Nordic Cooperation as well as International Development Cooperation.
Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen will take on Petersen’s ministerial duties during his eight-week paternity leave.
