First case of covid-19 confirmed in Faroe Islands

The Ministry of Health this morning confirmed that a male in the Faroe Islands has contracted the coronavirus after returned from Paris on February 24. The man and his family are currently in home isolation. Authorities are taking measures to contain further spread of the virus.

“We are well prepared now that covid-19 has reached the Faroe Islands. We take the situation seriously monitor and it closely,” says Health Minister Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen.

Returning travellers from high risk areas, including China, Iran, South Korea and parts of Northern Italy are recommeded to stay at home for 14 days in order to eliminate the risk of spread.
