PM Johannesen met with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the EU Commission, in Brussels this morning.
The Prime Minister and EU Commission President discussed how the Faroe Islands and the EU can strengthen their cooperation. The Faroe Islands are a part of Europe and during the meeting the Prime Minister emphasized the increasing significance of closer collaboration with the EU in light of the geopolitical situation.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the broad political desire in the Faroe Islands to enhance overall cooperation with the EU and improve market access for fishery products.
Throughout the last year, substantial efforts have been dedicated to formulating an MoU that outlines a comprehensive framework for cooperation between the Faroe Islands and the EU. The work has advanced to a point where we're optimistic about further developments early in the coming year
